Root Beer Floats
are served 1:00 - 3:00 pm behind the Nature Center
A groundbreaking ceremony for the Shelter House Project will take
place on Saturday, July 3 at
1:00 p.m. at the
Findley State Park Campground.
The Friends of Findley State Park for the past few years have been
raising money by holding Root Beer Float socials, the Cruise-In
to Summer, Grants and other Fundraisers. Currently Engraved
Brick Pavers are being sold to add a walkway to the shelter.
Enough monies were raised to purchase the Shelter and a metal
roof for the building.
The 30’ X 76’ shelter will include an enclosed area, 16’ X 25’ to
be used by the Friends for future events. RCP Shelters provided
the design and the complete list of material needed. Concrete
work, by Denes Concrete Inc., was secured by
Findley State Park
and the construction will be done by ODNR. A metal roof from
Country Metals will finish the project.
The public is invited to attend the ceremony, which will take place
at the Campground next to the
Nature Center.
From the main entrance follow the campground signs to the
Campgrounds Office. Immediately following the ceremony a Root
Beer Float Social will be held.
The Friends
of Findley State Park, Inc. is a non-profit, 501-c3 organization
formed in 2004 to help preserve the park’s educational and
recreational offerings beyond what can be supported by tax
dollars alone.
